February at Flowing Lotus Center
Black History, Mental Health, and the Power of Healing
February invites us to slow down, reflect, and reconnect; with our history, our mental health, and our capacity to heal. At Flowing Lotus Center, this month holds special meaning as we honor Black History Month while continuing to support emotional wellness, nervous system regulation, and spiritual growth within our community.
Below are a few reflections and updates we’re holding space for this February.
Black History Month & Mental Health

Black history is also a history of resilience, survival, and healing; often in the face of systems that were never designed to protect Black bodies or Black minds.
For generations, mental health struggles within the Black community have been minimized, spiritualized away, or carried silently. Today, we honor Black ancestors not only by remembering their strength, but by choosing rest, therapy, emotional expression, and healing as acts of resistance and self-love.
At Flowing Lotus Center, we believe mental health care is part of Black liberation. Seeking support is not weakness, it is wisdom.
February Mental Health Focus: Self-Esteem & Seasonal Affective Disorder
International Boost Self-Esteem Month
Self-esteem plays a critical role in mental health. Low self-worth is often connected to depression, anxiety, trauma responses, and unhealthy relationship patterns.
This month, we encourage gentle self-reflection:
How do you speak to yourself when no one is listening?
Where did your inner voice learn its tone?
What would it look like to treat yourself with compassion instead of criticism?
Building self-esteem is not about perfection — it’s about safety, self-trust, and learning to honor your own needs.
Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) Awareness
February can be one of the hardest months emotionally. Limited sunlight, colder weather, and post-holiday fatigue can intensify symptoms of depression, low motivation, and emotional heaviness.
If you’ve been feeling more tired, withdrawn, or emotionally low, you’re not alone. and you’re not failing. This may be your nervous system asking for more light, rest, grounding, and support.
Sound healing, Reiki, therapy, and intentional self-checks can be powerful tools during this season.
Celebrating Our Newest Sound Healer Graduate

We are honored to celebrate Fengfang Zhang for successfully completing the Sound Healing Certification Course this weekend.
Throughout her training, Fengfang exemplified presence, dedication, curiosity, and deep respect for the healing arts. Her attentiveness, intuition, and commitment to learning the sacred knowledge of sound made this experience especially meaningful. She approached each session with openness and reverence, embodying the heart-centered values that sound healing requires.

FengFang had this to say, “I’m so grateful to have become a sound healing practitioner. Thank you, Toshia, for such an amazing course. It was truly more than I ever expected to learn from you. This feels like a signature step in my return to my healing journey. I have always been drawn to healing work, but as life unfolded, I shifted my path toward other things; jobs, relationships, responsibilities. When I finally took the time to pause, step back, and ask myself who I really am, and simply feel what is calling me, the answer became clear. I am a healer, and I am back on track. This feels right for me.”

We are proud to officially welcome Fengfang into the Flowing Lotus Center, LLC family of healers. The world is better when more grounded, intentional healers step fully into their calling, and Fengfang has done just that.
Please join us in congratulating her as she begins this next chapter as a Certified Sound Healer.
